Quest Software Launches Application Performance Management Suite for Oracle E-Business
Comprehensive Oracle E-Business application management solution helps businesses ensure availability and optimal performance for end users.
IRVINE, Calif., November 18, 2003 – Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT), a leading provider of application management solutions, today announced the Quest Application Performance Management (APM) Suite for Oracle E-Business, a powerful set of integrated optimization tools designed to detect, diagnose and resolve issues impacting Oracle E-Business Suite performance and availability.
As an extension of Quest’s Application Performance Management strategy announced in October, the Quest APM Suite for Oracle E-Business helps organizations analyze application performance from a “business objective” point of view by tying end user service levels to performance information and compiling detailed performance statistics across each tier of the Oracle E-Business Suite application stack. This provides a true end-to-end perspective of application performance and allows business users to understand end user service levels and IT personnel to drill down into each application layer to resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
“As the application infrastructure becomes one of the most critical components in business productivity, being able to manage application performance and availability by maintaining service levels is essential for organizations that want to remain competitive in their respective industries,” said Cory Ferengul, vice president and principle analyst, META Group, Inc. “Software solutions that provide this unique end-to-end visualization of the application infrastructure will be in great demand, as they provide application stakeholders with the data they need to ensure application availability and enable them to detect, diagnose and resolve issues before they impact the end user.”
The Quest APM Suite for Oracle E-Business uses Quest’s “detect, diagnose, resolve methodology” for application performance management. The suite detects issues using the Quest Foglight APM console and its associated cartridges for the Oracle E-Business Suite, including Foglight for SQL Transactions. It then diagnoses the root cause of those issues with Quest Spotlight diagnostics tools and enables quick problem resolution through Quest Central. The offering differs from other solutions of its type by delivering real-time correlated views of the application stack with deep diagnostics and problem resolution for the individual application layers. Furthermore, the Quest APM Suite for Oracle E-Business specifically addresses Oracle E-Business transaction types including third party, Web, forms and concurrent manager transactions, which are often difficult to track.
“Quest Software strives to ensure business continuity for its customers by delivering products that reveal, prior to end user impact, the exact point at which a potential disruption may take place,” Matthew Parks, director of performance management solutions, Quest Software. “In addition to providing executive views into application performance, we break down each element of the application stack and allow administrators to dive deeply into any issue for quick resolution. This helps organizations guarantee high levels of service to their user base.”
Quest Application Performance Management
Quest Software offers proven application performance management (APM) solutions for each domain expert within an organization so that they may quickly detect, diagnose and resolve performance and availability issues before they impact the end user. This strategy provides IT managers, regardless of their area of expertise, with a complete set of integrated solutions that map service level agreements to performance information, across every tier of the application stack. Quest’s APM solutions combine business-centric views of applications with deep domain expertise to both measure and improve the performance of packaged and custom applications. Quest APM products help organizations manage critical applications including Siebel, PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite, and SAP; databases such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase and SQL Server; as well as IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and other custom Web/J2EE applications.
