New Artix Release Delivers Java Support with Enhanced Security and Management Features
Dublin, Ireland & Waltham, Mass. - January 6, 2004 -- IONA (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high performance integration solutions for mission critical IT environments, today announced the general availability of Artix v1.3. Artix v1.3 adds support for integrating systems developed using Java along with a host of new enterprise features including security, management and transaction support.
Introduced earlier this year, Artix is a family of service-oriented integration products that enable enterprises to renovate existing IT assets and consolidate legacy middleware to reduce cost, complexity, and vendor dependency while enhancing opportunities for future IT innovation. New features in Artix v1.3 expand the product’s range of uses while the release also extends its availability and performance across all major platforms, programming languages and middleware. Such broad coverage is critical as customers start to deploy Web Services for updating legacy middleware, consolidating servers, and eliminating some of the root causes of cost and complexity.
“Multi-platform support and enterprise qualities of service are a major requirement for the broad adoption of Web services and service-oriented architectures,” said Eric Newcomer, IONA’s Chief Technology Officer. “Artix v1.3 addresses these needs, making it possible for customers to confidently leverage Web services in support of their mission-critical integration projects now. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen Artix with a combination of developer-oriented features and enterprise-enhancements that meet the rigorous scalability and performance benchmarks required by today’s largest, success-driven organizations.”
Artix has been built for scalability, providing customers with the rock-solid, high performance, standards-based technology foundation on which to organically grow a Web Services infrastructure for their enterprise. The Java support, security, enterprise management and transaction features added to Artix in v1.3 offer a compelling value proposition to companies that want to leverage the ease of use and flexibility of Web Services, but require enterprise-quality of service features for mission-critical application integration projects.
