MKS Announces Software Change Management Support for the IBM zSeries Platform

Single change management solution for managing development process across distributed, iSeries and zSeries platforms

Waterloo, ON - February 23, 2004: MKS Inc. (TSX: MKX), a leading provider of enterprise software configuration management tools for the Global 1000, today announces it has extended its MKS Integrity Solution to the mainframe (zSeries/OS390) through an integration between MKS Integrity Manager, the company’s process and workflow product, with Computer Associates’ AllFusion Endevor Change Manager (CA Endevor), a leading change and configuration management solution for the zSeries. Now, multi-platform development organizations can benefit from a single change management solution linking development activity across distributed, iSeries and mainframe platforms.

Enterprises today are facing new and complex issues as native applications are exposed to customers. As an increasing number of these customer-facing applications, developed in the distributed development world connect with back-end, mainframe systems, multi-platform application change must be synchronized, tested and deployed together. Use of a common cross platform change management solution such as MKS Integrity Manager eliminates costly errors by ensuring there is a coordinated and controlled management process resulting in consistent deployment to production.

“Organizations increasingly are discovering needs to coordinate change activities that span both mainframe and distributed systems. They’re seeking to build up to composite issue management and process automation solutions that meet the needs of both environments,” says Jim Duggan, Vice President and Research Area Director, Gartner Inc.

“The MKS Integrity Solution, integrated with mainframe-based SCM products, enables corporations to seamlessly manage their multi-platform development initiatives across the enterprise to leverage existing best practices, technologies and skills to achieve a lower total cost of ownership,” says David Martin, MKS Vice President Product Management. “Built on state-of-the-art technology, it ensures interdependent software changes across multiple platforms are managed in parallel, eliminating costly software errors.”
