SCO Announces SCOoffice Server 4.1

Provides secure e-mail and collaboration with antivirus and anti-spam support; cost-effective alternative to Microsoft(R) Exchange Server with powerful migration tools

August 2, 2004--The SCO Group, Inc. today announced the availability of SCOoffice Server 4.1. Now available on SCO OpenServer 5.0.7, SCOoffice Server 4.1 offers a secure, reliable, easy-to-use, and cost-effective e-mail and collaboration server for small and medium-sized businesses.

Designed with comprehensive security features, SCOoffice Server 4.1 stops e-mail viruses, filters junk e-mail, and secures e-mail access. SCOoffice Server also delivers a real-time collaboration solution for scheduling group meetings, sharing contact lists and folders, and managing group task lists. SCOoffice Server connects customers, suppliers and partners through popular e-mail clients, like Microsoft Outlook(R), Qualcomm(R), Eudora(TM), and Netscape(R). A complete WebClient enables mobile workers and telecommuters to access their e-mail from anywhere there is an Internet connection and a browser.

This innovative product is a cost-effective alternative to Microsoft Exchange Server with powerful migration tools. SCOoffice Server is designed to let system administrators easily move users and e-mail from Exchange Server to SCOoffice Server in minutes. In addition, the SCOoffice Server Connector provides essential Microsoft Outlook compatibility for sharing e-mail, folders, calendars, contacts, task lists, and more with other Outlook users. And, the SCOoffice Server WebClient feature offers an easy way for end-users to collaborate with other WebClient and Outlook end-users.

"The new SCOoffice Server is another fantastic product from The SCO Group," said Bob Ungaretti, president of Raven Technologies. "This UNIX-based office server is a drop-in replacement for Microsoft Exchange Server and includes all the same collaboration and task scheduling features. It works directly with Microsoft Outlook and provides a full-featured Web browser interface. The SCOoffice Server's virus and spam filtering technologies coupled with the rock-solid SCO OpenServer UNIX platform, provides us at Raven with great opportunities to upgrade our customers to a state-of-the-art e-mail system with a proven track record of security and reliability."

"SCOoffice Server's spam trapping is superb. Before we had even finished configuring the rest of the server, SCOoffice Server was already stopping spam messages," said Steve James, Kirra Data, Inc. "The combination of anti-spam and antivirus software in SCOoffice Server provides our customers with excellent server-side protection. The benefit of server-side spam-blocking is reduced network bandwidth as large volumes of spam are downloaded to employees' e-mail clients (especially on Monday mornings) and also a reduced number of real e-mail messages accidentally deleted while clearing out all the spam."
