j2 Global Introduces Encrypted Fax-to-E-mail Service

eFaxSecure keeps information confidential and safe

Los Angeles -- January 4, 2005 -- j2 Global Communications, Inc., a provider of outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services, today announced the availability of eFaxSecure™, a new service for its eFax Corporate® customers.

eFaxSecure provides security for confidential documents that is compliant with many federal and state requirements, offers access from the Web anywhere in the world, and supports various file formats such as TIFF and PDF. This complements the company’s previous security offerings, which include secure virtual private network (VPN) connections and encryption.

With eFaxSecure, an eFax Corporate subscriber receives a notification e-mail that contains an encrypted login link, instead of receiving the actual fax attachment, as is normally the case with eFax Corporate. When the subscriber clicks on the link, a Secure Socket Layer connection (SSL) is opened, enabling the subscriber to securely login with their eFax Corporate PIN number and view the fax, which is contained in a secure Web-based storage system.

eFaxSecure offers a number of benefits to businesses of all sizes. eFaxSecure is:

  • Security-compliant. eFaxSecure complies with many federal and state privacy requirements, including HIPAA and GLB, making it an ideal solution for financial, health care, and legal applications.

  • Convenient. Faxes are encrypted and stored in a secure Web-based e-mail inbox, making them simple to access and organize.

  • Web-enabled. eFaxSecure requires no hardware or software installation; therefore, deployment is simple and practically instantaneous. Since the faxes themselves are not e-mailed, there is virtually no impact on corporate e-mail systems or their storage capacities.

  • Versatile. Subscribers can store, access, and forward faxes in widely used document formats, including TIFF and PDF.

  • Reliable. eFaxSecure relies on the robust eFax Corporate service platform, meaning that businesses around the world can depend on its reliability.

“eFax Corporate is already an essential messaging solution used by our customers to conduct business efficiently and quickly,” said Hemi Zucker, chief marketing officer of j2 Global. “With the addition of eFaxSecure, our customers now have an even greater assurance that the contents of their faxes will remain protected, secure and confidential.”

eFaxSecure is available immediately to existing and new eFax Corporate customers. To subscribe to eFaxSecure, visit http://www.efaxnow.com. or call, toll-free, 866-761-8112.
