Systems Continuity Planning Made Easier

Palo Alto Software and Network Frontiers release Systems Continuity Plan Pro

Palo Alto Software, makers of Business Plan Pro, and Network Frontiers author of the award-winning The Backup Book have released Systems Continuity Plan Pro to meet the needs of business continuity and disaster recovery planners, proactive IT directors, and CIOs, and any organization required to meet data protection regulations.

Systems Continuity Plan Pro is a wizard-based application that walks the user through over 100 questionnaires to assess the threats, vulnerabilities, and risks posed to their critical systems. The audit results in a lengthy report covering nine categories: data, applications, OS, storage, systems, network, power, facilities, and programs. In addition to the data collected during the audit are the policies to put into effect to maintain systems continuity. Throughout the report, graphs and charts clearly state which areas are at greatest peril and relate those risks to downtime and financial metrics.

Systems Continuity Plan Pro's price ($1,295 per copy) does not place limits on how many systems you can include in your audit and plans. In fact, you're encouraged to collect data with third-party products through the import and collaboration features. Plus, with the procedure and plan creation modules, you can create and modify as many plans as you like.

According to Network Frontiers CEO Dorian Cougias, "SCPP (Systems Continuity Plan Pro) was born out of our own frustration with continuity planning software. While there are great partners and applications with a $10,000 price tag, we couldn't find one real application that could conduct a comprehensive audit of all systems and allow you to create your own procedures at a reasonable cost. That's when we thought of Palo Alto Software it cost-effectively."

"When Dorian showed us the Network Frontiers' unified approach to regulatory compliance, we knew that he was on to something," said Tim Berry, president of Palo Alto Software. "Using our platform, we created a sophisticated audit and procedure and plan wizard that contains the control objectives for continuity best practices. Plus, due to the flexible nature of the platform, SCPP can be modified to reflect the standards and regulations you need to meet, be it COSO, CobiT, or a set of regulations such SOX or HIPAA."

Systems Continuity Plan Pro focuses on the IT processes and assets that are most critical to an organization, identifying specific threats, vulnerabilities and risks posed to revenue centers and client-facing applications. It goes further than other applications with policies and procedures, to enable best practices and regulatory compliance.

Dorian Cougias is the founder and CEO of Network Frontiers. Cougias has written four certification programs, eight books, and numerous technical articles. Tim Berry, a co-founder of Borland International in 1983, founded Palo Alto Software in 1987. He has written several books on business planning, most recently for Harcourt Brace and earlier for Hayden Books, McGraw-Hill and Dow Jones-Irwin.
