Protea AntiVirus Tools for Lotus Domino Protects Corporate Communications
Protea Tools announces version 1.03
March 29, 2005 - Protea Tools today announced the release of version 1.03 of Protea AntiVirus Tools (PAV Tools) that utilizes ClamAV open-source engine. Designed for Lotus Domino environments, the application allows an administrator to detect, delete, or quarantine infected or suspicious mail messages in Domino's message stream before they reach mission-critical applications, penetrate mailboxes, and disrupt performance. The program also features on-demand scanning to ensure that Domino's databases are virus free. Regardless of format, archive or compression type, all infected or suspicious messages will be blocked and sanitized before causing havoc.
Protea AntiVirus Tools provides inbound and outbound scanning of Domino's message stream in real-time. Unlike other antivirus programs, PAV Tools scans messages, message bodies, attachments, and attached OLE objects directly in the mailbox instead of placing e-mails in an intermediate depository; scanning is fast and doesn't affect the speed of mail delivery. Furthermore, to protect Domino clients, an administrator can get PAV Tools to scan NSF bases in any specified catalogue. Once an infected file is found, the program notifies administrators, senders, and recipients of the virus incident. What's more, PAV Tools provides scheduling support for ClamAV updates and database scan jobs.
The program offers a unique combination of benefits. It supports old and new versions of Lotus Domino, eliminating the need for 5.X clients to invest into upgrading to version 6.X. To ensure high levels of virus detection, the package integrates and deploys ClamAV, one of the leading antivirus engines whose virus signature file is regularly updated and can be downloaded for free. PAV Tools is also distinguished for its enhanced scanning performance that reaches up 18000 scanned messages an hour without any significant effect on the server performance. With its low resource consumption, it can be used even on low memory servers.

Protea AntiVirus Tools is designed for Windows NT/2000 Sever/2003 Servers and costs $600 (USD) for a single-server license.
