PGP Corporation Announces New Mainframe and Mid-Range Encryption Solutions for IBM Platforms
PGP Command Line for IBM zSeries and IBM iSeries extends comprehensive encryption from desktops to servers and now mainframes
Palo Alto, CA -- 13 February 2006 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, today announced PGP® Command Line for IBM® zSeries® and IBM® iSeries™ to deliver proven PGP encryption to mainframe and mid-range platforms.
Part of the unified PGP Universal™ Encryption Platform, PGP Command Line takes advantage of its integrated management and security policies, allowing businesses to easily integrate encryption into batch processing, network transfers, and backup processes. Now, organizations can use new PGP Command Line for mainframes to address compliance with government and industry regulations while protecting confidential and personal information from compromise.
Since February 2005, The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse estimates that more than 52 million individuals in the U.S. have had their personal information compromised by lapses in security such as network breaches or lost backup tapes. With PGP Command Line, customers can quickly integrate encryption into existing mainframe applications to help secure customer, partner, employee, and other confidential data.
As businesses consolidate applications on mainframe and mid-range platforms to maximize efficiencies and control costs of distributed systems, centralized platforms become a single source of risk. IBM mainframe and mid-range platforms continue to serve as the hub for mission-critical applications and processes in global enterprises. Enterprises can now use PGP Command Line to address those risks and protect the integrity of their business and brand.
PGP Command Line builds on the PGP Universal™ Encryption Platform that enables customers to utilize the PGP “deploy-once” architecture regardless of the chosen PGP encryption application. This unique architecture allows organizations to immediately take advantage of the shared security policies and ongoing management capabilities inherent in the PGP Universal Encryption Platform and to add additional PGP encryption applications as enterprise needs evolve. PGP Command Line is file format–compatible with PGP® Desktop and server products. With PGP Command Line for IBM zSeries and IBM iSeries, enterprises can now deploy a common encryption solution using PGP products—from the mainframe to servers, desktops, and outside the organization to customers and partners.
Support and Availability
To provide customers with proven mainframe platform support, PGP Corporation is partnering with Patrick Townsend & Associates, an Olympia, Washington provider of enterprise systems software development, sales, and services.
