Supermicro Introduces Mission-Critical 1u Servers With New Intelligent Management & High-Efficiency Power

Industry-leading 85%+ Efficiency Dual Power Supplies Ensure High Availability and Low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 30, 2006 — Supermicro Computer, Inc., producer of high-efficiency servers, chassis and serverboards, today announced the availability of its mission-critical 6015P series 1U servers designed and engineered for optimized availability and performance-per-watt.

Packing redundant 700-watt high-efficiency (85%+) power supplies, these servers maximize system availability by reducing single point of failure shutdowns, reduce energy costs and operate at lower temperatures versus previous generations. The SuperServer 6015P-TR and 6015P-8R both support Intel’s new Dual-Core Xeon 5100 and 5000 series (codenamed Woodcrest and Dempsey) processors with up to 1333 MHz front-side bus. The 6015P-TR supports four 3Gbps hot-swap SATA drives, while the 6015P-8R features four, dual-channel U320 SCSI drives.

Supporting any combination of two PCI-Express or PCI-X add-on cards via butterfly universal expansion slots, these 1U servers also support up to 32GB of fully buffered (FBD) DDR2 memory and Supermicro Intelligent Management (SIM). SIM offers cost-effective IPMI 2.0 server remote management with virtual media over LAN, KVM-over-LAN, and 3rd LAN support. Using a SIM1U card, server administrators can view a server’s hardware status remotely, receive an alarm automatically if a failure occurs, and power cycle a non-responsive system.
