Ingrian Networks’ Encryption Solution Protects Data in Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse Solution

Appliance-Based Solution ensures data privacy and helps enterprise users of Teradata Warehouse 8.1 achieve PCI compliance

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 17, 2006 -- Ingrian® Networks, Inc. today announced the release of the Ingrian Teradata Connector, a solution that lets organizations securely and effectively offload all cryptographic functions from Teradata® databases onto Ingrian’s network-based DataSecure hardware appliances. The Ingrian Teradata Connector supports Teradata Warehouse 8.1 for Ingrian DataSecure Platforms. The Teradata Connector joins Ingrian’s comprehensive family of database connectors, which includes support for Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g; Microsoft SQL Server; and IBM DB2.

With DataSecure, companies can address one of today’s most critical security threats -- data left unprotected within applications, databases, and storage systems. DataSecure gives customers comprehensive controls for protecting sensitive data, delivering such capabilities as granular, field-level encryption; centralized FIPS-compliant key management; integrated authentication and authorization; and robust logging and auditing. In addition, DataSecure enables users to comply with legislative mandates including the Payment Card Industry (PCI).

“We’re seeing more and more organizations looking to do database-level encryption to meet compliance mandates such as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard,” said Karim Toubba, vice president of product management and corporate strategy for Ingrian Networks. “Ingrian is delighted to be able to provide world class encryption to Teradata that addresses critical needs such as security threats, while delivering a range of features designed to offer more granular control of security and to provide even more flexibility in implementation.”

Ingrian Teradata Connector, which supports Teradata Warehouse 8.1, offers an array of features:

  • Capabilities for encrypting sensitive data in databases at the column level

  • Centralized key management in a secure network appliance

  • Comprehensive logging, auditing, and administration capabilities for all cryptographic operations performed in Teradata databases

  • Robust authentication and authorization capabilities to allow only authorized access for decrypting sensitive data

  • Complete transparency to application infrastructure, minimizing integration time

  • Tightly coupled integration with Teradata user security

Ingrian Teradata Connector will be available as a software download from the Ingrian support site at http://www.ingrian.com/support.html beginning on October 20. Pricing starts at $19,000 (USD). Software releases supporting Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g; IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server are also currently available for download.
