GT Software Offers New Option for webMethods Mainframe Users

Company offers less-expensive option for application and data migration

Atlanta, Georgia, November 7th, 2006 -- GT Software today announced an attractive offer for webMethods Mainframe users who are considering their options given the product will no longer be supported after March 31, 2007. While the GT Software's Ivory® integration toolset is available at a comparable licensing arrangement to that of the DataDirect option announced by webMethods early this year, the migration path costs are up to 10 times less expensive.

"This will be excellent news for webMethods Mainframe users," comments Steve Craggs, director, Lustratus Research. "Mainframe integration tools vary considerably in function and priorities, so we strongly advise webMethods users to put the alternatives through their paces to be sure about what is being delivered and for what cost. Ivory's focus on ease-of-use promises major benefits in terms of cost of ownership."

Ivory is an integrated toolset that enables rapid SOA development for the mainframe using existing skills sets, applications, and data, allowing the mainframe to become an active participant in an SOA. Without retraining and with no coding required, Ivory enables mainframe developers to leverage mainframe resources to seamlessly support the building and deploying of multi-step, multi-operation business services within a SOA.

"Since the announcement by webMethods that they would no longer directly support their Mainframe product after March 2007, GT Software has been working with a number of users to ensure their mainframe applications and data can be integrated with their SOA using the Ivory integration toolset.

The real value of our offer is the potential to reduce migration costs by up to 90 percent," said Rob Morris, SVP marketing and strategy, GT Software.
