Nexsan Offers Disk-Based Archiving for Smaller Enterprises

Assureon SA Archive Appliance features enhanced search, security features

Now available for mid-market enterprises is Nexsan Technologies' Assureon SA Archive Appliance, a disk-based archiving solution that supports file retrieval for up to 20 million documents using Content Addressable Storage technology. It's a viable and cost-effective alternative to tape and optical storage methods, according to the Nexsan.

"The Assureon SA delivers everything that smaller organizations need in an archival solution," said Brendan Kinkade, Nexsan's vice president of marketing. "It's a plug-and-play system that is easy to use, doesn't require a lot of space, is highly reliable, and provides enterprise-class security at a fraction of the cost of comparable legacy solutions."

Users can search for a document using a keyword, phrase, date, size or author. The Assureon SA delivers the results with excerpts and summarization, and with the query terms highlighted.

To ensure long-term data integrity, the Assureon SA features a self-healing capability along with "lifecyle management, file authentication, missing file alerts, and support for remote replication," the company said. Document-level security prevents users from viewing retrieved documents for which they don't have access permission. The Assureon SA also features RAID 6 protection, which protects against data loss in the event of drive failure.
