AlarmPoint Adds Communication, Web Services Features
IT event-resolution software adds support for VoIP, BlackBerry devices, Web services
AlarmPoint Systems today shipped AlarmPoint 3.1. The software automates IT event notification and resolution. New features include:
Enhanced VoIP support: Through collaboration with communications leaders, AlarmPoint 3.1 now supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for use with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems. Customers can receive IT event notification by voice without purchasing additional costly hardware. Thanks to SIP , AlarmPoint can capture and route IT events to any network-based communication device. During broad-scale disasters, customers can dynamically scale their “virtual” phone lines so notifications are sent without using a third-party service.
Support for BlackBerry devices. Users can send important messages about IT events to employees directly through their company’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). Native support for BES push technology lets customers remove potential failure or throttle points (such as the public Internet or internal e-mail server traffic) and provide greater two-way incident-response capabilities, according to AlarmPoint. Customers can protect their messages behind a company firewall. %%Improved integration through support for Web services. AlarmPoint 3.1 offers Web services integration SOAP; its API eliminates the need to write custom code to exchange data with the AlarmPoint application.
AlarmPoint 3.1 is now shipping from AlarmPoint Systems and authorized reseller partners. More information can be found at http://www.alarmpoint.com.
