Novell Releases Comprehensive Systems Management Solution

ZENworks Configuration Management provides advanced policy-based Management, reduces IT cost and complexity for Windows environments

Novell today released Novell ZENworks Configuration Management, a new component of its systems management portfolio to help enterprises reduce IT complexity while lowering costs. The configuration management product allows companies to add patch, asset, and endpoint security management capabilities tailored to their environment. Users can centrally manage IT resources to “meet compliance and auditing needs, ease costs, improve security, and streamline business processes,” according to a company release.

ZENworks Configuration Management provides key information and tools companies need for regulatory compliance, asset and license audits, business continuity, and process improvement. The product integrates enterprise reporting from BusinessObjectsso IT administrators. The integrated console, ZENworks Control Center, helps administrators address configuration, reporting, patch, and asset management from a single location.

ZENworks’ Configuration Management Advanced and Enterprise editions incorporate endpoint security management technology from the company’s acquisition of Senforce Technologies. The tools protect endpoint devices from malware, data theft, and unauthorized wireless access, according to Novell, which says that “advanced asset and patch management capabilities ensure accurate and secure systems, while reducing the time and effort spent tracking licenses or patching vulnerable desktops.”

The product offers native support for Microsoft Active Directory and Novell eDirectory and runs on Windows (including Vista), Linux, and Novell Open Enterprise Server for Linux.

ZENworks Configuration Management is available in Standard ($70), Advanced ($114), and Enterprise ($225) editions, with upgrade pricing available.
