Ontrack PowerControls Updated

Version 5 includes new Exchange Server, report search, and security features

Kroll Ontrack has released Ontrack PowerControls 5.0, an update to its mailbox recovery tool that simplifies the restoration process while maintaining internal security policies. The product allows users to:

  • Target a live Exchange Server for searching, moving, copying, exporting, or deleting mailbox messages

  • Ontrack PowerControls user access can be set with Administrative Services so they mirror the organization’s internal IT security policies

  • Create new mailboxes on an Exchange server manually or as part of copy-out process . %%Create reports of results from each search

  • Export single mailboxes or an entire EDB store to PST files

“Because Exchange data is often deemed sensitive, organizations need a tool that not only simplifies e-mail management, but is mindful of who has access to e-mail data and how it can be manipulated,” said Jim Reinert, vice president of data recovery and software products at Kroll Ontrack, in a company statement. Ontrack PowerControls requires no changes to existing Exchange servers or backup architectures. It reduces restore time and minimizes the time it takes to locate all e-mails matching specific criteria using advanced searching capabilities, and eliminates the need for an Exchange recovery server, according to the company. Ontrack PowerControls supports Microsoft Exchange Server versions 5.5 through 2007.
