Computer Lab International (CLI), a twenty-year veteran in the thin client computing market, has released its new ST6500 series thin client. The high-resolution, dual-video-ready client is energy efficient and is powered by a VIA Eden C7 processor which enables it to deliver substantially better performance than previous models. The ST series is optimized for desktop virtualization, terminal services, digital signage, and kiosk environments.

The ST6500 series features a secure, highly optimized, customizable Windows XP Embedded operating system that is suitable for embedding unique customer applications, customized Kiosk configurations, VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Citrix Application Delivery, and Microsoft Windows Terminal Server software.

Much of the growth of thin clients is due to virtual desktop technologies and use of thin clients in kiosks and other self service applications, according to the company. The ST series features integrated serial, parallel, and USB expansion slots as well as optional Wi-Fi and smart card support, providing a PC experience on a thin client.

“Virtually all the latest desktop provisioning and virtualization software is supported," said Michael Franke, technical director for CLI, in a statement. "We make it easy for customers to customize, integrate, and deploy insuring the customer on-time deployments with immediate return on investment, and provide our customers responsive, USA-based, support.‛

Many CLI thin clients use less than one-tenth of the energy compared to a PC and have fewer parts to recycle.
