Quest Adds “Predictive” Technology to Spotlight on Oracle

New feature analyzes SQL statements to determine potential problems

Quest Software announced this week that its Spotlight on Oracle product now features "predictive diagnostics," allowing administrators to determine in advance the source of database performance problems caused by SQL statements.

Spotlight on Oracle also has increased the diagnostic features for Oracle Real Application Cluster environments, the company said.

Spotlight on Oracle analyzes database load and execution rates to determine which SQL statements will have performance degradation issues. This helps administrators prepare for problems and ensure minimum downtime in the event of a problem, rather than simply reacting to problems after they occur.

"In virtually every organization, the database is core to critical applications, processes and user activities," said Guy Harrison, Oracle expert at Quest Software, in a prepared statement. "Therefore, IT must be as proactive sa possible when it comes to database performance management. The traditional approach of fixing problems as they occur fails to adequately ensure business service levels."

Pricing for Spotlight on Oracle starts at $595 per CPU socket. Go to http://www.quest.com/spotlight-on-oracle for more information.
