InMage Systems Updates DR-Scout Disaster Recovery Tool
DR-Scout 4.2 focuses on business continuity
InMage Systems has released DR-Scout version4.2. The updated disaster recovery/business continuity software improves recovery time as well as recovery point objectives in heterogeneous storage environments.
DR-Scout provides users with real-time data protection at the block level as well as file rollback. In addition, DR-Scout enables “application-consistent recovery and push-button failover,” according to a company statement, and can scale from low-cost recovery for applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server to recovery of a virtualized data center.
Other changes in this release include:
Support for additional platforms: Windows 2008, Windows on Itanium, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, VMware ESX, HP-UX 11iv3, and AIX 6.1
Improved reporting, including audits and operational reports to improve compliance; on-demand report generation as well as e-mailed reports are supported and e-mailed reports
Access control based on roles, including accounts that only permit monitoring
Support for local, direct data synchronization of data and faster resynchronization on WANs and LANs
New licensing based on host capacity and/or capacity protected; this tiered pricing reduces costs for midmarket enterprises
Support for MySQL on Linux as well as Oracle on Linux and Windows
Bandwidth utilization can be adjusted by time of day; it queues data changes to handle WAN outages. The platform-independent program supports heterogeneous storage for DAS, SAN, NAS, and iSCSI configurations.
