10-Strike Software has released 10-Strike LANState Pro 4.4, a Windows-based network monitoring and management utility that allows network administrators and engineers to make a graphic map of a network and see its state in real time. LANState Pro monitors hosts, ports, databases, services, processes, traffic, folders, files, disks, and installed software. The program alerts the administrator when the hosts and services go down. This helps to reduce downtime dramatically and control the performance of every device on the network with ease.

LANState Pro discovers all network devices -- routers, servers, hosts, and printers -- and produces an easy-to-view pictorial map with node icons, connecting lines, and labels representing a network topology. By continuously scanning a network, the program detects active and inactive machines, new devices, and other changes to the network configuration and instantly reflects changes in the network map, ensuring that the network administrator sees what is happening inside the network in near-real time and can respond to critical changes or issues quickly as they occur.

LANState Pro allows users to directly manage networking computers, including starting, re-starting, and shutting down remotely, as well as interrogating machines to generate detailed software and hardware asset reports. On miscellaneous events, the program can alert the administrator with a sound, on-screen message, or e-mail, auto-run an external application, or reboot a host computer. With a few mouse clicks, the network map can be exported to a graphic image, XML scheme or Microsoft Visio for further use during planning, upgrading or troubleshooting of networks.

The product is aimed at network managers and engineers in small and medium-sized enterprises who need good visibility into their network to keep it running with minimal downtime.

LANState Pro 4.4 includes new features and bug fixes to help users monitor and control network computers and servers more efficiently. The most important features include:

  • A new installed-software audit feature allows administrators to monitor the list of installed applications on remote computers. The program remembers the list of existing programs on the remote PCs and compares it with the actual list. If new or deleted programs are detected, the program will notify the administrator.
  • The ability to run external scripts as a reaction to a failed check. Users can now run external JavaScript and VisualBasic scripts to fix stopped services, devices, databases, etc.

A complete overview of the new features and improvements in version 4.4 can be found at http://www.10-strike.com/lanstate/. Pricing for 10-Strike LANState Pro 4.4 begins at $249.95. A 30-day trial is available.
