Ensim Corporation has shipped Ensim Unify Enterprise Edition, Version 2.8. The latest upgrade enhances this policy-based enforcement engine, giving organizations control to enforce compliance and security directives.

Ensim's suite of provisioning and application management tools allows compliance policy enforcement at the feature level for the core collaboration infrastructure that includes Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Office Communications Server (OCS), as well as mobility applications such as BlackBerry. Ensim Unify Enterprise Version 2.8 expands its role-administration capability to allow organizations to implement and automatically enforce their existing compliance and security policies.

Key features of the Version 2.8 release include:

  • Role Administration and Security: The security and policy enforcement engine underlying Ensim Unify has been further enhanced with updates in role administration. The granular, role-based, delegated administration capability enforces delegation of administrative rights, as well as pushes the delegation model into native management interfaces.

  • User Management Updates: Administrators can submit extensible search criteria to the system to retrieve user data based on a role, provisioned template, or any other Active Directory attribute.

  • Windows 7 Compatibility for Password Reset Tool: Administrators can push a password-reset tool to all Windows 7 desktops, enabling users to reset their password from their own workstation without any administrator intervention. Additionally, password reset operations can be configured to unlock the account and several other password policy enhancements have been added, enabling administrators to securely enforce password reset policies.
