Power Assure Introduces Dynamic Power Optimization Software

Power Assure, Inc. has introduced Dynamic Power Optimization software that continuously balances server capacity, performance, and availability to reduce data center power consumption by 50 to 60 percent without reducing service levels.
The software uses a new, three-tier architecture to control, visualize, and optimize data center power, combining a runbook automation platform with sophisticated, demand-driven calculation algorithms to adjust server capacity in real-time. The software also automatically adjusts cooling and other facility resources to maintain efficiency at optimum levels while guaranteeing customer service-level agreements.
The company also announced the release of version 3.5 of its Dynamic Power Management software featuring predictive “what if” analysis to assist in equipment placement, leveraging Power Assure’s auto-discovery of assets and its minute-by-minute power and environmental data collection.
Power Assure enables IT managers to gain real-time insight and intelligence into their data center's performance, maximize use of available space and power, and extend the useful life of the data center.
Key features of Power Assure Dynamic Power Optimization software include advanced runbook automation modules that support leading server, system management, and inventory and building management platforms and a virtualization manager that extends power management saving and visibility to VMware, Citrix, Xen, and PowerVM environments

- What-if analysis for capacity, performance, and power
- Expanded environment plug-in modules with product details for over 10,000 items from over 500 vendors for easy integration of power management sources (e.g., PDUs, UPSes, and meters), environmental information (including temperature, humidity, airflow, and chillers), and IT equipment (racks, servers, networks, and storage)
- Configurable protocol plug-ins for all major communication protocols such as SNMP, IPMI, iLO, Bacnet, Modbus, and Web services to provide out-of-the-box integration capabilities
- Application integration and synchronization with major system, network, inventory, and building-management solutions
