RackWare has joined the cloud infrastructure market with the release of the RackWare Management Module (RMM) 2.0, a software solution that enables users to economically build and easily leverage a public, private, or hybrid cloud without requiring application or operational changes. RMM provides the automated intelligence necessary to deliver significant time and cost savings for enterprise IT and much greater availability for enterprise IT users.

RackWare enables enterprises to get the highest performing cloud for their applications today and throughout the entire application life cycle. With RackWare's easy-to-use cloud management software, enterprises can easily create cloud environments with the mobility and elasticity needed to power cloud solutions that deliver low-cost, flexible, agile resources. RMM 2.0 now includes unique automation and intelligent layers that deliver the right resources to applications at the right time, resulting in a simple, cost-effective, on-demand enterprise cloud.

According to Sash Sunkara, founder and chief executive officer of RackWare, "With RMM 2.0, users can take full advantage of the cloud without compromising their current investment in infrastructure and applications. Once RMM is in place, it is easy to expand use of the cloud to increase cost savings to the business through greater availability and flexibility for application developers and users."

With an influx of new public and private cloud stacks built on different technologies, many companies are facing serious and expensive vendor lock-in issues. RackWare frees users from vendor lock-in by supporting any type of virtual, cloud, or physical infrastructure without requiring changes to existing applications. This mobility gives users the broadest set of choices and best performance at the lowest cost when selecting their cloud options. In addition, a new solution for client on-boarding provides a pushbutton, automated mechanism to move existing workloads between different data centers and clouds.

RackWare also delivers compute flexibility and scalability on demand to achieve faster time to application production, improve savings in infrastructure and personnel, and enhance enterprise-level availability and reliability. With RMM, computing resources -- physical, virtual, and cloud machines -- can be easily and automatically scaled up or down as demand fluctuates. There are three primary components to RMM's elasticity which are also being announced today:

  • AutoScaling: RMM delivers automatic scaling for both private and public clouds as well as for data centers based on real-time usage, load, and performance

  • AutoParking: The RMM Policy Engine supports schedule-based AutoParking, which can be applied to hosts or group of hosts with a high degree of scheduling flexibility and detail

  • Cloud Bursting: RMM scales across one or many heterogeneous clouds so core applications and infrastructure stay in the data center and have peak usage demands met in the cloud.

Combining both mobility and elasticity, the new RMM Disaster Recovery in the Cloud is an easy-to-use, economical solution that provides significantly improved support over traditional tape backup at a cost that is small fraction of maintaining a replicated data center.
